The POST Board currently has twelve staff positions. Our staff wants to do everything possible to help you with any questions or concerns. Please feel free to contact our staff with your questions. The links below will allow you to email our staff from this page.

Erik Misselt, Executive Director

The Executive Director reports to a fifteen-member Board appointed by the Governor. He directs the licensing system for Minnesota's 10,500-plus state, county and municipal peace officers and part-time officers. The licensing system includes components of minimum selection criteria, professional standards, continuing education, complaint investigation, and the rule-making process. He also collaborates with law enforcement agencies, higher education programs, the legislature, and the Office of the Governor on issues germane to POST functions and responsibilities. 

 

Schyler Beaty, Assistant Executive Director

The Assistant Executive Director directs and coordinates the day-to-day operations of the POST Board staff and their projects.  With the Executive Director, he supervises agency support staff and works to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of core service delivery.  He also serves as Acting Director in the absence of the Executive Director.

 

Tahami Danial, Data Manager

The Data Manager is responsible for data systems management for POST. The Data Manager ensures the smooth operation of the POST Salesforce application, the POST eLicense software platform and the Benchmark misconduct reporting system. He also provides project management, system integration, and support for vendor upgrades for Salesforce, the POST eLicense system and other POST software. 

 

Angie Rohow, Standards Coordinator Supervisor

The Standards Coordinator Supervisor directs and controls the daily operations of the POST Board Standards Coordinators.  They serve as a resource by providing information to chief law enforcement officers who have questions regarding administrative rules, POST Board jurisdiction and authority related to standards of conduct for licensed peace officers.  They are responsible for ensuring compliance reviews are completed as scheduled and coordinate the entire officer complaint process.

The Standards Coordinators conduct reviews of law enforcement agencies to ensure compliance with POST Board rules, policies, and statutes as well as investigate alleged violations of peace officer standards of conduct, minimum selection standards, and unauthorized practice. They also assist state and local units of government comply with POST Board and statutory requirements. The Standards Coordinators serve as a resource by providing information to chief law enforcement officers who have questions regarding administrative rules, POST Board jurisdiction and authority related to standards of conduct for licensed peace officers, and information and referrals to citizens who may have questions about alleged peace officer misconduct.

Alicia Popowski, Rules and Legislative Coordinator

The Rules and Legislative Coordinator develops and writes rules and amendments to rules relating to the Peace Officer Standards and Training Board as set forth in Minnesota Rules Chapter 6700. These rules address the intent and purposes of the Board within the scope of jurisdiction, powers, and duties of the board as defined by statute. Statutory issues affecting rule proposals are also addressed by the coordinator.

This position also serves as the legislative coordinator to the Executive Director, Assistant Director, Board Members, staff, and the Legislature to help the board stay apprised of statutory changes that have an impact on board rules.

 

Michelle Haggberg, Continuing Education Coordinator

(Vacant), Continuing Education Credit Coordinator 

The Continuing Education Credit Coordinator administers, coordinates, and maintains the Professional Peace Officer Continuing Education Credit program that, as a component of the peace officer licensing process, tracks continuing education credits and all records associated with the program.  She oversees and coordinates annual renewal of peace officer licenses and agency policy compliance.  As well as reviews and oversees licensing applications for peace officer restorations. The credit coordinator audits, enters and approves applications to ensure law enforcement agencies receive the proper training reimbursement funds.


Robert Skoro, Education Coordinator

The Education Coordinator oversees and administers the Professional Peace Officer Education (PPOE) that is required for peace officer licensure and provided at POST Board certified institutions of higher learning. Currently there are 29 colleges and universities that provide PPOE programs at 38 locations throughout Minnesota.

 

Katie Cederstrom, Examination Coordinator

The Examination Coordinator oversees the content and administration of the four peace officer licensing examinations administered by the POST Board and manages the duties related to exam eligibility.  The examinations are:  the Peace Officer Licensing Exam, the Reinstatement of License Eligibility Exam, the Peace Officer Reciprocity Exam, and the Military Reciprocity Exam.

Shari Bartness, Office & Administrative Specialist Senior

The Office and Administrative Specialist Senior (OASS) provides administrative support to the Executive Director, the POST Board chair, Board members and their committees to ensure board activities are accomplished efficiently and effectively. She also is the agency's timekeeper, telecommunications coordinator, and certified purchaser. The OASS answers questions pertaining to meeting dates, agenda items and contacting board members.

 

Joelene Wahlberg, Office & Administrative Specialist Intermediate

The Office and Administrative Specialist Intermediate (OASI) is the initial contact point for POST Board customers either through walk-in contact, by phone or through correspondence. This position, along with another OASI position, processes Peace Officer license requests, renewals, testing applications, etc. including receiving and entering various payments associated with those duties as well as issuing license certificates. The OASI's process personnel notifications, terminations and update the Peace Officer Employment Opportunities web page on the POST web site.
