EVELETH, Minn.- The Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board (IRRRB) will meet on Tuesday, May 19 at 10 a.m. in St. Paul. Agenda items include approval of the agency's Fiscal Year 2016 budget and several public works projects.

The IRRR Board will consider funding for a $33.15 million FY16 budget, which IRRRB Commissioner Mark Phillips says is focused squarely on the agency's core development mission. "I am pleased that over half of the proposed budget is dedicated to development projects and programs," said Phillips. "This funding reflects our commitment to investing in a better future for northeastern Minnesota."

While development projects and programs account for 51% of the agency's spending, funding for Giants Ridge accounts for 29% and operations accounts for 21%.

The FY16 budget allocates $5 million for development projects. The FY16 public works budget is $6 million, including nine shovel-ready projects to be considered at Tuesday's board meeting. The total IRRRB project investment for the nine projects is over $1.6 million, with a total public/private investment of over $39 million. IRRRB funds will be leveraged 23 to 1. It is projected that 26 permanent jobs and 235 construction jobs will be created.
