Anyone can need mental health care, but finding accessible mental health care is sometimes challenging for people who are deaf, deafblind, hard of hearing and late-deafened.
The Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services Division's Mental Health Program has numerous resources to support people who are deaf, deafblind, hard of hearing and late-deafened in taking care of their mental health. Resources include:
- Adult mental health services with specialists who are fluent in American Sign Language.
- Community-based programs for children who are deaf, deafblind and hard of hearing.
- Directory of mental health care providers fluent in American Sign Language and experienced in working with people who are deaf, deafblind, hard of hearing and late-deafened.
- Free online training for mental health care practitioners on working with people with hearing loss who do not use American Sign Language.
- This training is also excellent for anyone learning about hearing loss or interested in supporting a family member or friend with hearing loss.
If you, or someone you know, is struggling with mental health, please reach out for help.
