State Capitol Building

The Minnesota State Capitol became part of the Minnesota Historical Society's historic site program in 1969. The Capitol was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

The Minnesota State Capitol’s comprehensive, 4-year renovation — the largest preservation effort since it first opened in 1905 — was completed in early 2017. To learn more about the restoration project, see the State Capitol Restoration Project website.
