Public Events

Here you’ll find information for holding public rallies and special events within Capitol Complex buildings and on its grounds. Coordination and approval is managed by Admin Plant Management. If you have questions or need help, contact us.

State Capitol Complex Venue Availability

The Minnesota State Capitol Restoration Project will impact locations available for public rallies and special events through the end of 2016. Many public spaces are currently unavailable. To see which spaces are open and closed, reference our Venue Availability page

Event Permits

To Apply for An Event Permit


Submit the signed forms to Admin, using one of the methods below:

  • Scan and email the forms to pmd.inquiry@state.mn.us
  • Fax the forms to 651-297-5158
  • Mail the forms to:
    Events - Admin Plant Management
    Administration Building, Room G-10
    50 Sherburne Avenue
    St. Paul, MN 55155

Note: Leaving blanks on the forms will delay processing.  No public event permit is approved until the applicant receives a signed, approved application from the State of Minnesota. Do not announce, promote or advertise the event before you have received an approved, signed copy of your application.

Equipment Rental

The Minnesota Historical Society (MHS) offers equipment rental for individuals holding events at the State Capitol Building.

  • ADA accessible podium and accessible ramp

  • Projection screen
  • Blue back drop
