Job Description: The City of Willmar is accepting applications for full-time police officers.
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent, completed two years of post-secondary education in law enforcement or related field, have a valid driver’s license, and meet one of the criteria listed below:
• Be a licensed full-time police officer in Minnesota; or
• Be a full-time certified police officer in another state meeting the Minnesota reciprocity requirements, or
• Be eligible to be licensed as a full-time police officer in Minnesota by time of appointment.
The Willmar Police Department currently employs 37 full-time officers. We are a proactive department, with a variety of assignments, including:
• Detective Unit (Street Crimes, Drug Task Force)
• School Resource Officers
• SWAT (Entry, Marksman & Negotiator Teams)
• Computer Forensics
• Dive Team
• Technical Rescue Team
• Instructor Positions (DT, Firearms, FTO)
• FAA Licensed Drone Pilots
• K9 Officers
• Cold-Water Rescue
We have great medical benefits; the city contributes $3,000 per year to an HSA for a single health insurance plan or $6,000 per year for a family health insurance plan.
We are a forward-looking department, in a law enforcement supported community, emphasizing current equipment and training.
