Job Description: The City of Saint Peter Police Department is accepting applications to fill an immediate Police Officer opening. Our progressive department offers a wide range of promotional and specialized assignment opportunities, including Patrol, Sergeant, Detective, Tactical Response Team, School Resource Officer, Field Training Officer, and more. Officers work ten (10) hour shifts with every other weekend off.
Officer salaries range from $40.87 to $50.15 per hour, with additional educational incentives and longevity increases at 4, 8, and 20 years of service. Lateral transfers with prior law enforcement experience are encouraged to apply; previous years of service and qualifications will determine starting wage, with the potential to be hired at the top pay rate. Officers without prior law enforcement experience reach the top rate after four years of service.
New hires are eligible for a $6,000 sign-on bonus ($2,000 upon completion of FTO, $2,000 upon completion of one year, and $2,000 upon completion of two years of employment).
A $5,000 relocation bonus is available for lateral transfer candidates with three or more years of full-time law enforcement experience.
Lateral transfers may also qualify for increased vacation accruals, based on prior law enforcement experience.
New hires receive 40 hours of banked vacation and 40 hours of banked personal (sick) leave available on their start date.
