Officers have opportunities to become a school resource officer, investigator, SWAT operator, SWAT negotiator, drone pilot, K9 handler, mobile field force member, and the potential for supervisory positions (based on performance and openings). Officers’ workdays consist of a balance of responding to calls, engaging in proactive policing efforts, and community engagement.
Lateral candidates with 1 to 3 years of experience will be paid $1,250 upon start of employment plus an additional $1,250 upon the completion of training. Lateral candidates with 3 or more years or experience will be paid $2,500 upon start and $2,500 upon completion of training. An abbreviated training timeline and a higher starting pay scale may be considered for lateral transfers depending upon experience and qualifications. All candidates will receive 20 hours of sick, and 20 hours of vacation time front loaded into their leave banks.
