The Belgrade/Brooten Police Department is responsible for patrolling the communities of Belgrade and Brooten which is located in Southwestern Stearns County, bordering Pope and Kandiyohi Counties. The combined population is around 1,500 people. The department consists of the Police Chief, 2 full-time, 3 part-time officers and a part-time administrative assistant/records. The Belgrade/Brooten Police Department operates as its own entity, and reports to the BBPD Police Board. Applicants must fulfill minimum selections standards of the Minnesota POST Board and must possess or be eligible to possess a full-time Minnesota Peace Officer License or have taken and passed the State Reciprocity Test to become a Peace Officer in the State of Minnesota, by the application deadline. Starting pay $25-$27hr depending on experience, with .25 increase after completion of 6-month probation and yearly increases thereafter. Paid Health insurance with HSA contribution offered, Health and Wellness, with Work out on Duty benefit.
