Job Description: The City of Heron Lake located in the southwestern corner of Minnesota is accepting application for a full-time Chief of Police.  Candidates must be licensed by the Minnesota POST Board or be eligible to be licensed by the date of appointment.  Must have an Associate of Arts degree from an accredited college or university in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice or similar program. Candidates must have a valid driver's license.  Candidates that apply with previous law enforcement experience also have the potential to have experience taken into account when being placed on the salary scale.  You will be the only one on duty at a time.  You will be on call 24 hours a day with your days off covered by the Jackson County Sherriff's Department. 

Heron Lake is a small town with a population just under 600.  It is located is ana rea that is great for fishing and hunting.  We also have a volunteer fire department and volunteer ambulance to provide extra service throughout the coverage area.
