Job Description: The City of Heron Lake is located in the SW corner of Minnesota. Looking to fill a full-time job opening for Chief of Police. Candidates must be licensed by the Minnesota POST Board or be eligible to be licensed by the date of appointment. Must have an Associate of Arts degree from an accredited college or university in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice or similar program. Candidates must have a valid driver's license. Candidates with previous law enforcement experience also have a potential to have experience taken into into account when placed on the pay scale.
You will be the only one on duty at a time. You will be on call 24 hours a day with your days off covered by the Jackson County Sherriff's Department.
Heron Lake is a small town with a population just under 600 residents. We also have a volunteer fire department and ambulance to provide extra coverage in our area. We are located on Highway 60 with lakes and campgrounds nearby for fun & fishing.
You will be in charge of enforcing the ordinances of our city in addition to the safety and welfare of our residents.
