New Candidates (Less than 2 years of experience): The City will pay a candidate $5,000 as follows: $2,500 upon hiring, $1,000 upon successful completion of the field training program, $1,500 upon successful completion of the probationary employment period.
Officers work 12-hour shifts which provides a 5-day weekend every other week. Opportunities within the department include possible assignments for: General Investigations, Mobile Field Force, West Metro Drug Task Force, Drug Recognition Officer, and Towards Zero Death Enforcement Traffic Enforcement. The City offers a great benefit package including 100% of the health insurance premiums for full-time employees electing single coverage and up to $1,753 per month for family. We also offer a continuous service incentive of 3% at 10 years and 6% at 15 years.
