Job Description: 1. Patrols the business and residential areas of the City of Lakefield on foot, bike or in vehicle, looking for signs of criminal activity to enforce laws, detect and prevent crime, provide traffic control, protect life and property, and ensure safety and security at all times.
1.1 Receives and responds to dispatched calls or visually observes and responds to suspected criminal activity and all other law enforcement or public safety concerns.
1.2 Responds to accidents, medical emergencies, fire scenes and other emergencies as required; initiates investigations; administers first aid until more qualified personnel arrive on the scene and directs traffic flow; contacts tow trucks to clear away damaged vehicles.
1.3 Enforces traffic laws, operates radar, and writes violations.
1.4 Administers breathalyzer test and transports intoxicated persons to jail or a detoxification facility.
1.5 Periodically checks the security of business establishments and vacant residences.
1.6 Resolves and mediates disputes in citizens' homes, places of business or other public gathering places.
1.7 Transports and delivers paperwork to courts, City Hall, City Council members, attorney offices, and other places as necessary.
1.8 Provides backup to other law enforcement members whenever needed.
1.9 Participates in community policing and crime prevention efforts as directed.
2. Attends required training classes and completes qualifications necessary to maintain POST license and participate in Toward Zero Deaths enforcement campaigns.
