On behalf of the POST Board chair and members, board staff consult and work in partnership with MN law enforcement agencies, peace officers, training providers, future peace officers and others – in support of the professional standards and further development of law enforcement. Staff is a resource to others as they ensure mandates that are within the purview of the POST Board are adhered to by agencies, peace officers and training providers.

The Executive Director reports to a seventeen-member board appointed by the governor. He directs the licensing system for more than 10,000 Minnesota state, county and municipal peace officers. The licensing system includes components of minimum selection criteria, professional standards, continuing education, complaint investigation, and the rule-making process. He also collaborates with law enforcement agencies, higher education programs, the legislature, and the Office of the Governor on issues germane to POST Board functions and responsibilities.

The Assistant Executive Director directs and coordinates the day-to-day operations of POST Board staff and their assignments. With the Executive Director, he supervises agency support staff and works to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of core service delivery. He also serves as the acting director when the Executive Director is not available.

The Data Manager is responsible for managing the POST Board’s digital data systems. The Data Manager ensures smooth operation of our Salesforce application, eLicense software platform and misconduct reporting system. He also provides project management, system integration, and technical support for vendor upgrades impacting Salesforce, the eLicense system and other POST Board software.

The Standards Coordinator Supervisor oversees and directs the daily operations of our Standards Coordinators who conduct compliance reviews of law enforcement agencies, review and investigate complaints of peace officer misconduct, and serve as a resource by providing information regarding administrative rules, POST Board jurisdiction and authority related to standards of conduct for licensed peace officers.
Standards Coordinators
The Standards Coordinators conduct reviews of law enforcement agencies to ensure compliance with POST Board rules, policies and statutes. They investigate alleged violations of peace officer standards of conduct, minimum selection standards, and unauthorized practice. They assist state and local units of government comply with POST Board and statutory requirements. They serve as a resource by providing information to chief law enforcement officers who have questions regarding administrative rules, POST Board jurisdiction and authority related to standards of conduct for licensed peace officers; and providing information and referrals to citizens with questions about alleged peace officer misconduct.

The Rules and Legislative Coordinator develops rules and amendments to rules relating to the Peace Officer Standards and Training Board as set forth in Minnesota Rules Chapter 6700. These rules address the intent and purposes of the board within the scope of jurisdiction, powers, and duties of the board as defined by statute. Statutory issues affecting rule proposals are also addressed by the coordinator. This position also serves as the legislative coordinator to the Executive Director, Assistant Executive Director, board members, staff, and the legislature to help the board stay apprised of statutory changes that have an impact on board rules.
Continuing Education Coordinators
Continuing Education Coordinators administer the Professional Peace Officer Continuing Education program that, as a component of the peace officer licensing process, is aimed at helping develop and improve Minnesota law enforcement. The coordinators work collectively on the review and approval of continuing education course applications submitted by course sponsors.

The Continuing Education Credit Coordinator administers and maintains the Continuing Education Credit program that, as a component of the peace officer licensing process, tracks continuing education credits and all records associated with the program. She oversees and coordinates annual renewal of peace officer licenses, and is involved with the review of applications for peace officer license restoration. She reviews and processes applications received from law enforcement agencies for reimbursement of training expenditures.

The Pre-service Education Coordinator oversees and administers the Professional Peace Officer Education (PPOE) that is required for peace officer licensure and provided by POST Board-certified institutions of higher learning. Currently, there are 29 colleges and universities providing PPOE programs at 38 locations throughout Minnesota.

The Licensing and Testing Coordinator oversees the content and administration of the peace officer licensing examinations. She coordinates the licensing process which includes review of applications for licensing and testing to confirm eligibility.

The Office and Administrative Specialist Senior (OASS) provides administrative support to the Executive Director, Assistant Executive Director, POST Board chair and members, and board committees to ensure board activities are accomplished efficiently and effectively. She is the agency's designated meeting coordinator and certified purchaser. The OASS answers questions pertaining to meeting dates, agenda items and contacting board members.

The Office and Administrative Specialist Intermediate (OASI) is the initial contact point for POST Board customers either through walk-in contact, by phone or through emailed correspondence. She processes peace officer license requests, renewals, testing applications, and various associated payments; and issues license certificates. She also processes personnel notifications and terminations, and updates the Peace Officer Employment Opportunities web page on the POST Board website.
