Minnesota Department of Corrections Education
The Minnesota Department of Corrections (DOC) is deeply committed to providing incarcerated people across our facilities with access to high quality educational programming that will expand opportunities for them, their families, and broader communities. We believe in empowering individuals to participate in educational programming that best aligns with their interests and hopes for the future, and strive to offer a supportive learning environment that enables each student to meet their educational goals.
We currently offer these core educational pathways:
- Secondary education, leading to the completion of a high school equivalency credential
- Postsecondary education, leading to the completion of certificates and higher education degrees
- Career and technical education (CTE), leading to certificates or credentials in high-need, skilled jobs
- Degree-granting programs, leading to Associate and Bachelor's degrees
The specific programs vary by location with the exception of secondary education, which is available at every facility. We are continually evaluating the range of programs offered and actively working to strengthen the breadth and impact of educational programming available within DOC to provide educational opportunities to our community.
We are grateful to the educational institutions who partner with DOC to provide educational opportunities for our community.
