The Minnesota Department of Corrections’ Office of Special Investigations, in coordination with the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office, is investigating the death of a 39-year-old man at Minnesota Correctional Facility - Moose Lake.
On September 17, at 10:40 a.m., an incarcerated man reported to staff that a cellmate appeared to be unresponsive in their room. Corrections staff immediately responded and initiated life-saving measures, without success. The circumstances surrounding the man’s death remain an active investigation. The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office will be performing an autopsy to determine the manner and cause of death.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending full notification of next of kin.
