The Minnesota Department of Corrections’ (DOC) tradition of excellence continued at the United States Police Canine Association (USPCA) Region 12 Narcotic Trials on March 10 in Wright County.

The DOC has a national reputation for doing very well at these events and this time was no different.

“I’m proud of our canine teams,” said John Melvin, director of the DOC’s Office of Special Investigations. “The training and professionalism displayed by the DOC’s canine officers and their partners continues to be exceptional.”

Canine teams play an integral role in overall safety and security for everyone in our correctional settings, especially in locating and removing harmful drugs and other dangerous contraband items.
