Coming Fall of 2024: The design process begins for the Rice Street redesign and reconstruction project in the Capitol Area.
Ramsey County, working in partnership with the City of Saint Paul, CAAPB, Metropolitan Council/Metro Transit is now seeking professional engineering services for preliminary and final design for the reconstruction of Rice Street from John Ireland Blvd to Pennsylvania Avenue in the City of Saint Paul’s Capitol Area. Through the community engagement process and stakeholder input, a final layout will be created and then turned into a construction plan. Improvements will include a reconstructed roadway with storm sewer, storm water treatment, concrete sidewalk, multiuse trail, landscaping and trees, lantern style street lighting, water main and services, sanitary sewer services, traffic signing, RRFB, and pavement markings.
The RFP (Request for Proposal) for interdisciplinary design teams was released April 17, 2024, with closing on May 9, 2024.
Anticipated Contract Start Date is Fall 2024.
