Vulnerable Adult Act (VAA) Redesign

From: Office of Ombudsman for Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities, on behalf of Minnesota Department of Human Services

The Vulnerable Adult Act (VAA), Minnesota §626.557, was passed in 1980 and establishes state policy for the protection of vulnerable adults and Minnesota’s adult protection system. The decision to explore redesigning the VAA reflects the changing demographics in our state as well as recognition of the challenges within the current statute.

You can help by hosting a Community Conversation during October or November, using the resources in this guide (PDF). We’ve designed this process so that anyone who wants to participate can, regardless of their current knowledge of the Vulnerable Adult Act or adult protective services.  For details visit Vulnerable Adult Act (VAA) Redesign
