Trainings for Licensure Renewal

July 2026: This page is under construction.

Information and resources on specific areas of trainings for licensure renewal may be found on each requirements webpage, linked in the lefthand menu.

While PELSB approval is not required, training providers may choose to submit their trainings to the Renewal Training Subcommittee for review. Trainings that are reviewed and approved by the subcommittee will be added to the PELSB website for Minnesota teachers and districts as a general resource list (coming soon). PELSB approval indicates that the training meets clock hours renewal requirements. However, Minnesota teachers must still have their clock hours reviewed and approved by their local continuing education committee. This subcommittee does not replace the authority of continuing education committees at Minnesota public and charter schools.

Applications for approval of trainings by PELSB should be submitted to renewaltrainingsubmissions.pelsb@state.mn.us. Trainers seeking to have a training approved by PELSB must submit:

  • Form: Application for PELSB Approval of Continuing Education Clock Hours Training
  • Form: Mandatory Requirements Review. Submission of this form is only required if the training consists of one or more mandatory requirements for renewal. The mandatory requirements for renewal are:
    • Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies
    • Accommodating, Modifying, Adapting Curricula
    • Reading Preparation
    • Key Warning Signs for Early-Onset Mental Illness in Children and Adolescents
    • Suicide Prevention
    • English Language Learners
    • Cultural Competency
    • American Indian History and Culture
