The Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) is responsible for licensing teachers in Minnesota, establishing the state standards required to be a licensed teacher, approving the state’s teacher licensure programs, and overseeing teacher ethics cases. The PELSB Data Center provides a wealth of data about licensed educators, teacher preparation programs, teacher shortage areas, and trends in the teaching profession overtime.

The Supply and Demand of Teachers in Minnesota Report on this page contains interactive data visuals. This biennial report provides information regarding the supply and demand of licensed teachers in Minnesota public school districts and charter schools. Using licensure, assignment, and permission data, as well as surveys of Minnesota school districts, teacher preparation providers, and teachers, this report shows ongoing trends within the state's educator workforce.

Prior to 2026, this report was published in PDF format. These reports are still available on the Narrative Reports page.
