Location: Minnesota Correctional Facility - Faribault
MCF-Faribault is a medium custody facility that houses adult males.The role primary of the facility is to prepare offenders for release to lower custody facilities or community settings. The facility offers work, vocational, and academic programs, and chemical dependency treatment to offenders.
Internship Description: Interns will be exposed to a wide array of psychological services within a correctional facility.Interns will obtain knowledge and understanding of how the criminal justice systems works in general, specifically related to the area of psychology in the corrections field.The intern will complete initial psychological screening with offenders, co-facilitate group therapy, assist with triage duties, provide crisis intervention as needed and participate in individual therapy with offenders.
Supervision: Interns will be assigned to a Senior Therapist or Program Supervisor.
Requirements: Interns must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university in a program which offers course credit for internships.Applicants should have completed graduate level course work in psychology.Selected applicants must submit to and clear a security background check prior to start of internship and follow department policies and procedures.
Length of Internship: Minimum of 700 hours
Application priority deadline dates:
For academic year beginning in Fall Terms and for all Summer Terms, the application process will open January 1st and end March 15th. Applications received by February 15th will be given first consideration. All other applications will be considered after the March 15th deadline. Interviews will be scheduled after February 15th.Selection decisions will be completed by April 15th. For internships beginning with Winter/Spring terms, the application process will open October 1st and end November 1st. Interviews will be scheduled in November.Selection decisions will be completed by December 1st.
Note: This internship is unpaid
