Discipline Unit Intern

Location
Minnesota Correctional Facility - Lino Lakes
MCF-Lino Lakes consists of a medium-security facility and two minimum-security units located outside the secure perimeter with a total population of 1,300 adult males. This facility has the highest concentration of educational and treatment programs in the DOC system. In many cases offenders serve the final phase of their sentence at MCF-Lino Lakes so they can obtain the services they need to prepare for release.
Internship Description
The intern will obtain knowledge and understanding of how the criminal justice system works in general, specifically related to the area of corrections. The intern will benefit from this experience by learning investigative techniques within a correctional environment in the area of institution rule violations. All interns will be trained on policy and procedure of the correctional facility. Primary duties will be assisting with investigations, charges and hearings
Supervision
Interns will be supervised by the Discipline Unit Supervisor.
Requirements
Interns must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university in a program which offers course credit for internships. Must be knowledgeable with IBM computers and software, have excellent organizational, communication and writing skills. Applicants should have completed introductory course work in criminal justice, criminology, corrections, psychology, sociology, social work or related field. Interns must clear a security background check and agree follow department policies and procedures.
Length of Internship
Negotiable and Flexible: 12 weeks/24 hours per week desired
