Effective Communication 101
A webinar on creating accessible spaces for people with hearing loss

Twenty percent of Minnesotans have hearing loss. People with hearing loss communicate in a variety of ways, but one thing unites them: they all have the right to effective communication under state and federal law.
In this webinar, we will:
- Examine the different hearing loss groups.
- Discuss what communication access looks like for each group and how to provide it.
- Describe steps to creating inclusive and equitable environments for people with hearing loss.
- Examine state and federal accessibility laws.

Who should attend?
- Social workers, health care workers and nurses
- Other county, state, and non-profit service providers
- Family members, friends and caregivers of people with hearing loss.
Continuing Education (CE)
For social workers: The Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services Division is a Minnesota Board of Social Work approved continuing education provider. Up to 1 hour of continuing education clock hours are available for social workers attending this training.
For nurses: This activity has been designed to meet the Minnesota Board of Nursing continuing education requirements. However, the nurse is responsible for determining whether this activity meets the requirements for acceptable continuing education.
