Why is it important to have health insurance?
Having health insurance can help you and your family to stay healthy. If you are in an accident or you get sick, it can be very expensive if you do not have health insurance. Many people get health insurance through their employer, but if your employer doesn’t offer insurance or the insurance offered is not affordable, you may be able to get insurance through MNsure.
MNsure has three programs:
- Medical Assistance (MA)
- MinnesotaCare (MNCare)
- Qualified Health Plans (QHP)
Which program you qualify for depends on how many people live with you and how much money your household earns. Let’s discuss the basics of each program.
Medical Assistance (MA)
- No monthly premium.
- No deductible.
- Some co-pays, typically low cost.
- Covers medical, mental health, dental, hearing aids and vision.
MinnesotaCare

Qualified Health Plans
