The Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board will suspend the enforcement of one level of clinical experience for all licensure areas listed with two levels for candidates who complete programs in the 2020-2021 academic year.
Candidates in licensure programs with two levels are still required to complete clinical experiences aligned to the content sought in one level.
For mathematics, clinical experience is only required at one level (5-8 or 9-12).
Teacher preparation provides are encouraged to place candidates in clinical experiences at both levels, if possible.
For candidates missing experiences in one level, preparation providers are encouraged to provide alternative experiences that allow for candidates to demonstrate understanding and skills in the content at the missing level.
This has no effect on candidates completing after the 2020-2021 academic year.
