Rosenfield made an impact for disabled Minnesotans

Barnett "Bud" Rosenfield, Minnesota's Ombudsman for Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities, passed away suddenly from a heart attack at the age of 57 on July 8. Serving in the role since December 2021, Rosenfield had a long history of dedicated service to the disability community.
His advocacy career spanned decades, marked by a commitment to promoting and enforcing the rights, community inclusion, and informed choice of people with disabilities. Rosenfield's impact was acknowledged through tributes from various organizations, elected officials, and colleagues.
He had previously worked at the Minnesota Disability Law Center, where he served as a supervising attorney for nearly 25 years. Recognized for his compassion and advocacy, Rosenfield was described as "thoughtful, compassionate, and whip-smart." Beyond his professional endeavors, he was a sports enthusiast, surviving his wife, children, siblings, and extended family. A funeral was scheduled for August 18, with suggested donations in Rosenfield's name to organizations like ARC Minnesota, Alzheimer's Association, American Heart Association, or the Minnesota Disability Law Center.
