2006: 5-Year State Plan Survey
The objective was to conduct a study among people with developmental disabilities in Minnesota to measure the degree to which they believe they are independent, productive, self-determined, integrated, and included (IPSII) in the community.
Approximately 552 people with developmental disabilities responded to the survey, as did 152 providers, either online or by mail. Qualitative information was also gathered, through interviews and listening sessions held throughout the state.
Results indicated clear room for improvement in the provision of services to individuals with developmental disabilities in the state of Minnesota. Only 3 of the 9 federal areas of emphasis achieved satisfactory quality ratings.
Minnesota service providers identified their top 3 priorities for improvement over the next 5 years: (1) Employment, (2) Health, and (3) Self advocacy.
