St Paul, MN – December 29, 2014 - The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission announced its intent to amend Minnesota Rules, Chapter 7835, to incorporate recent statutory changes affecting cogeneration and small power production. The proposed rule amendments incorporate changes to Minnesota Statutes, section 216B.164, which increase the capacity limit of qualifying facilities interconnecting with a public utility. Under the changes, the capacity limit increases from under 40 kilowatts to less than 1,000 kilowatts. 

The proposed rule amendments incorporate this and other changes, including changes to filing and reporting requirements, conditions of service, compensation rates, interconnection guidelines, and the uniform statewide contract. 

The Commission’s Notice of Intent to Adopt the proposed rule amendments, along with the proposed rules, will be published in the December 29, 2014 State Register. All documents related to this proposed rulemaking are available on the Commission’s website at http://mn.gov/puc.
