Minnesota Public Utilities Commission to Hold Public Meeting on Gas and Electric Service Issues due to this Winter's Severe Weather

St. Paul, Minnesota — The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (Commission) will hold a public meeting on Thursday, February 28, 2019 to discuss the impact of the severe weather last month and this month on the operations of the utilities and the provision of service to affected customers. The meeting will be held from 1:00 – 3:30 pm in the Commission’s Large Hearing Room at its offices in St. Paul.

This meeting is intended to provide an overview of each utility’s operational experiences during the recent severe cold weather event that occurred between January 28 and February 1, 2019. The Commission will be hearing from five gas utilities: Xcel Energy LDC, CenterPoint Energy, Minnesota Energy Resources, Great Plains Natural Gas Co., and Greater Minnesota Gas; the three investor-owned electric utilities operating in Minnesota: Xcel Energy Electric, Minnesota Power, and Otter Tail Power; as well as the regional grid operator for Minnesota: Midcontinent Independent System Operator Inc. (MISO).
