Martin Munic

Public Employer Representative Alternate Member

Martin D. Munic has been with the PERB since its inception in 2014, first as the Alternate Member Representative of Public Employers, 2018-2026 as the Member Representative of Public Employers, and is again currently the Alternate Member.

After 31 years with the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, he retired as a Senior Assistant County Attorney in 2024. He was a member and then head of the Office’s Labor & Employment Team. In that role, he represented the County and its hospital HCMC in State and Federal district and appellate court, labor arbitrations and a variety of administrative agencies; as well as providing advice and counsel to those two entities. Munic has been a frequent lecturer on public sector labor and employment topics. In 2024, the Minnesota Employer Labor Relations Association presented Munic with its Pacesetter Award for “his contributions to the professional practice of labor relations in Minnesota.”

Prior to joining the County, he worked for a private law firm which represented private and public unions. Prior to that, he clerked for U.S. District of Minnesota Judge Harry MacLaughlin. After his retirement, he joined a private firm which represents public employers as an Of Counsel Attorney. He has been a board member and president of the Minnesota Justice Foundation and the Loan Repayment and Assistance Program of Minnesota.

Munic graduated from Drake University, Phi Beta Kappa and the University of Minnesota Law School, where he was an Associate Editor of the Law Review and Order of the Coif.

He is married and they have one adult child.
