During the 2019 legislative session, the Minnesota Legislature designated the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) as the administrator of a grant to support efforts for teacher mentorship and retention of effective teachers. 

By mid-November, PELSB expects to post the Teacher Mentorship and Retention of Effective Teachers Grant application and additional materials online. PELSB will accept grant applications from: 

• School districts
• Groups of school districts
• Coalitions of districts, teachers, and teacher education institutions
• Coalitions of schools, teachers, or non-licensed educators

Schools, groups, and coalitions interested in submitting an application for Teacher Mentorship and Retention Grant funds must also submit an Intent to Apply to PELSB prior to applying for grant funds. 

PELSB expects Teacher Mentorship and Retention Grant applications will be due in December.

PELSB will provide additional updates when the application and additional materials are available online.
