Resolution Clarifies Teaching Assignment Requirements

In recent months, PELSB has received Out-of-Field (OFP) permission requests to allow Tier 2 teachers to have 100 percent of their teaching assignment in content fields that do not align with their licensed field.
During its September regular meeting, /pelsb/assets/Resolution%20Clarifying%20the%20Ability%20to%20Receive%20an%20Out-of-Field%20Permission%20While%20on%20a%20Tier%202%20License_tcm1113-403699.pdfPELSB adopted a resolution that clarifies rule on Tier 2 teachers having a portion of their teaching assignment in the specified licensure field of the Tier 2 license in order to apply for an OFP.
For example, a teacher with a Tier 2 license in mathematics who would like to apply for an OFP to teach physics must have at least a portion of their teaching assignment be in mathematics, meaning the Tier 2 mathematics teacher's assignment cannot be entirely teaching physics.
If 100 percent of a teacher's assignment is outside of their Tier 2 licensure field, that teacher will need to apply for a separate tiered license that aligns with the assignment's content field.
