A Note from the Executive Director Regarding Online Services
In June of 2015, the Minnesota Board of Psychology (Board) implemented the use of a new database that provides online access to all Board services. The added efficiencies allow the Board to provide timely services related to applicants seeking admission to examination, supervisor and endorser verification, initial licensure, license renewal, continuing education (CE) pre-approval, CE Sponsor approval, CE Audits, name and contact information updates. With new service processes come important changes that the Board would like you to be aware of that will assist you in having a positive experience with the Board and with online services.
Please make sure you have a valid and frequently checked e-mail address on file with the Board. All official correspondence with the Board is conducted via e-mail.
For Applicants
For Applicants
- Apply Online: All applications for licensure, initial, reciprocity, mobility, guest, and guest by temporary permit should be filed using the online services portal. If you have already submitted any part of an application for licensure which includes the following applications: Application for Admission to PRE, Application for Admission to EPPP, or Application for Licensed Psychologist License, please contact Board staff so that you can create an account and associate it with your existing application before you submit additional applications.
- Criminal Background Checks: Criminal Background Checks are required by Minnesota law for all initial applicants for licensure; you will be notified when it is time to complete your fingerprint based criminal background check.
- Admission to Examination: Examination registration can only be completed once you have filed an application for licensure.
- License and Honorary Certificate: The Board no longer issues a paper license certificate or license. You will receive your license and honorary certificate via e-mail. Please make sure you have an accurate and frequently checked e-mail address on file with the Board.
For Supervisors and Endorsers
- Supervisor and Endorser Forms: The Board no longer uses Supervisor and Endorser Verification forms. Supervisors and Endorsers are identified by the applicant at the time of application. Applicants must provide a valid supervisor or endorser e-mail address in order to complete the primary source verification process using online services. Once the supervisor or endorser is registered as a “license contact,” they will be notified via e-mail and asked to use a link to provide information related to a specific applicant. Once the form is completed online, Board staff receives notification that the information is ready for review and can certify the verification or seeking additional information to complete this part of the licensure process.
“Thank you for revising the application process. I speak for myself and all my colleagues in saying how much we appreciate your work to facilitate a more efficient application.” - Renewing Licensee
For Licensees
- License Renewal Notifications: The Board no longer mails renewal notifications using the United States Postal Services (USPS). Renewal notifications are provided via e- mail 45 days in advance of the license expiration date. Please make sure you have a valid and frequently checked e-mail address on file with the Board. All official correspondence with the Board is conducted via e-mail.
- Waivers and Variances: The Board continues to accept requests to waive, (eliminate), or vary (change the way you comply) the Board’s administrative rule requirements which are reviewed based on the criteria established in Minnesota Rule 7200.6000. All requests for a waiver or variance of an administrative rule must be submitted online. Requests will be reviewed as received and the response will be provided via e-mail. If you need more time to complete your CE requirements, please request a 6- month time limited variance through online services. You are also able to submit a variance request related to CE as a part of the renewal application if you do not answer “Yes” to having completed your 40 required CEs for the renewal period.
- Renewal Certificate: For increased efficiency, the Board no longer mails a paper renewal certificate. Renewal certificates are sent automatically via e-mail once renewal is complete by the automated system.
- Online Payment: The Board accepts both credit cards and ACH (checking account) withdrawal through the online services portal. After completing your application online, you can also choose to mail your payment to the Board office. Please note, payments made online allow for faster processing of your submission and receive priority.

All CE Audit Notifications are sent via e-mail. Please make certain you have an accurate and frequently checked e-mail address on file with the Board.
