New Tiered Licensure Infographic

This July 1, 2024, a number of changes to tiered licensure will go into place. Therefore, the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) has created a new infographic outlining the requirements for each licensure tier. Please find this on the PELSB website here.

Changes that will be in effect this 2024-25 school year include:
- A limit of 3 years on a Tier 1 license in a special education field (goes into effect July 1, 2024; more information coming soon)
- New pathways to a Tier 4 license (goes into effect July 1, 2024; more information coming soon)
- Tier 2 eligibility changes (goes into effect July 1, 2024)
- Exemptions to the bachelor's degree requirement (went into effect July 1, 2023)
- Exemptions to licensure exams (went into effect July 1, 2023)
- Removal of the basic skills examinations for applicants seeking a Tier 4 license(went into effect July 1, 2023)
