Mission

Ensuring all Minnesota students have high quality educators in their schools.

To ensure equitable education practices through high licensure standards, quality educator preparation programs, and stakeholder engagement.


Board Dashboard

The Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) is responsible for licensing teachers and overseeing teacher preparation programs in Minnesota. Additionally, PELSB is tasked with collecting educators' employment, licensure, and assignment data from all school districts. This dashboard highlights some of the Board’s key activities and metrics for different initiatives.

2022 Tiered Licensure and Permissions Report

Terminology

Teacher: The individual providing instruction in a public school or charter school and is required to hold a license aligned to a particular subject matter.

Licensure field: Authorizes a teacher to provide instruction in particular content area (Note: A teacher may be licensed in multiple fields, such as physical education and health.)
