Reports
OOFY publishes a variety of reports to promote transparency and public awareness for issues impacting youth in foster care.
OOFY may share Investigative Reports publicly for several reasons:
- The identified issues are serious, egregious, recurrent, or systemic.
- They identified issues have not received much attention from others.
- There may be another reason the broader public should be informed.
Investigative Reports identify areas of improvement regarding policies, procedures, and practices in Minnesota’s foster care system. In line with our legislative mandate, the purpose of these reports is to, “promote the highest attainable standards of competence, efficiency, and justice for youth who are in the care of the state.”
- Reports of Findings and Recommendations are completed for an individual youth or family’s case.
- Issue Reports are completed to address county, regional, or statewide trends present in multiple investigations where the child welfare system has failed to meet the needs of foster youth.
- Annual and Quarterly Reports are completed to inform the public about key aspects of our work over a specific period of time.
