Applying for Licensed Behavior Analyst

Effective January 1, 2025, an individual must not engage in the practice of applied behavior analysis unless the individual is licensed under sections 148.9981 to 148.9995 as a behavior analyst or is exempt under section 148.9987. A psychologist licensed under sections 148.88 to 148.981 who practices behavior analysis is not required to obtain a license as a behavior analyst under sections 148.9981 to 148.9995.

Applicants who wish to apply for licensure as a Behavioral Analyst will need to demonstrate meeting the requirements on the attached checklist as part of the application process for licensure: LBA Application Checklist

Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA)

Minnesota Statue section 148.9983

Requirements:

• A current and active national certification as a board-certified behavior analyst issued by the certifying entity; or

• Completed the equivalent requirements for certification by the certifying entity, including satisfactorily passing a psychometrically valid examination administered by a nationally accredited credentialing organization

• A criminal background check.
Fees

Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA): $225.00

FBI and BCA Background Study fees: $17.00, $15.00, respectively

All fees paid to the Board are non-refundable.
How to Apply

If you have not created an online account for the e-licensing system, follow these steps:

1. Click Go to Online Applications below.

2. A new window will open. Click the Register Here button located in the lower right area of the portal page.

3. Complete the form on the screen under Create your account.

4. Once you enter all the information click the Create Account button.

5. Click Save.

6. Log in using your email address and password associated with your newly created account.
