Building the Field

How is OCDR "building the field"?

The field of conflict resolution includes individuals and organizations who use a wide variety of practices to help parties who are in conflict solve interpersonal, organizational, and societal challenges. The "field" includes professionals working in community mediation, restorative justice, peacebuilding, dialogue and deliberation, social science research, and other practice areas. Journalists, artists, and others may also use their platforms to tell new and generative stories about moving beyond conflict.

In 2023 OCDR began convening individuals and organizations in Minnesota who practice many types of conflict resolution to connect and share practices. These "bridge-building" organizations are learning from one another and forming new partnerships and collaborations. The goal of this service area is to bring bridging tools, resources, and programming to more Minnesotans.
