The Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) employs 22 staff members in our Bandana Square office and is governed by 11 Board members from across the state. We work to serve and support all who are seeking or renewing educator licensure in Minnesota and to oversee Minnesota's teacher preparation programs. Additionally, PELSB partners with educators, administrators, legislators, and stakeholders to promote and uphold the promise of high quality education for all Minnesotans.
Board members are appointed by the Governor for 4-year terms. The Board membership is comprised of 6 teachers, 1 superintendent, 1 principal, 1 human resources director, 1 administrator of a cooperative unit, and 1 public member.
PELSB is an equal opportunity, affirmative action, and veteran-friendly employer. We are committed to providing culturally responsive services to all Minnesotans. The state of Minnesota recognizes that a diverse workforce is essential and strongly encourages qualified women, BIPOC, individuals with disabilities, and veterans to apply.
