Classroom Size Limits for DeafBlind Students In K-12 education, there is a limit as to the number of students who can be assigned to one teacher. The number of students is determined by the how much direct special instruction the student needs and what types of disability are present. In most classrooms where a student is deafblind and needs special instruction for at least 50 percent of the day but not a full day, there can be between three and six students. If the teacher has two assistants, there can be up to 12 students assigned to one teacher. If a student who is deafblind needs special instruction for the whole day then the classroom can have between four and six students depending on the number of teaching assistants that work with the teacher.
