Technology Standards Adopted The chief information officer has defined technology standards required under MN Statute 16E.03. These standards apply to just the state executive branch which includes agencies. Other branches of state government are encouraged to also adopt the standards. Some highlights from the new standards include the requirement that all state produced videos must be captioned and live video and broadcasts must be captioned or a transcript must be provided. Executive branch entities will also have to include alternative text for all images and increase contrast ratios of text and images to improve visibility. The specific standards are: Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 level AA; Section 508 Subpart A 1194.3, 1194.4, 1194.5; Section 508 Subpart B 1194.21, 1194.22, 1194.23, 1194.24, 1194.25, 1194.26; Section 508 Subpart C 1194.31; and Section 508 Subpart D 1194.41.
