How to use this website

Deaf Rights Minnesota has gathered together hundreds of links to pages on State websites related to disabilities and aging. Use the top navigation bar to select a retrieval tool:

  • Deaf Rights Topics provides browseable topic categories for drilling down to the desired topic area.
  • A-Z Index is an alphabetical listing of all topics.
  • State Agencies displays all pages on the website from a specific agency, board, council, or division.
  • Search allows full-text searching of the topics, titles, and link descriptions.
Harm to a Service Animal by a Human No person shall intentionally cause bodily harm to a service animal or cause harm to a service animal to the point where it cannot do it's intended duties. If a person harms a service animal they are guilty of a gross misdemeanor. The person may be sentenced to imprisonment for no more than two years or payment of a fine of no more than $5,000, or both. If the harm resulted in the death or great bodily harm to the service animal, the person may be sentenced for not more than 4 years of imprisonment or payment of a fine of not more than $10,000, or both. If the person is found guilty of harming a service animal, they must pay restitution for the cost and expenses resulting from the crime.
