Please note:  If you have previously held a Minnesota LD or LN you cannot apply for a new license, YOU MUST APPLY FOR REINSTATEMENT.  Please call the board office at 651.201.2764 for information.  Fees paid online for an application that requires Reinstatement are non-refundable.

What to do if you have a name change? We need validation of your name change. This documentation need only be a photocopy of the document changing your name, i.e. marriage license/certificate, divorce decree.  Fax, scan and email, or mail the copy to the Board office. There is no fee for this service. Your name will be updated in the database. During renewals it is best to send in the name change documents first and then renew once the name change has occurred in the database. Your renewal certificate will be issued in your new name.


The Board of Dietetics and Nutrition Practice is responsible for protection of the public through the regulation of dietitians and nutritionists in the State of MN. The board was established in 1995 under the authority of MN Statutes, Chapter 148, and MN Rules, Chapter 3250. MN Statutes define licensure and states in 148.630 (a) No person may engage in dietetics or nutrition practice unless the person is licensed as a dietitian or nutritionist by the Board. No person may use the title “dietitian,” “licensed dietitian,” “nutritionist,” “licensed nutritionist, or any other occupational title using the word “dietitian” or nutritionist” unless so licensed by the board, nor shall any person hold out dietitian or nutritionist unless so licensed.
