The Minnesota Legislature has made available funding to assist in the start-up and ongoing operations of labor-management councils throughout the state. The members of these councils are from both the public and private sectors and represent labor and management of over 375 organizations. In general, the councils work to improve the labor-management climate in their area of the state or sector of the economy.
In addition, a coordinating council (consisting of all the councils below plus the Bureau of Mediation Services, the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, the U of M Industrial Relations Center and the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry) exists to work on common issues regarding labor-management cooperation.
The Iron Range Construction Council operates in the Iron Range area. It is a partnership of construction unions and contractors whose primary function is to develop and provide information, within the industry and to the public, on unionized construction operations and the industry in general.
