County observance of Veterans Day Holiday in 2023 was Friday, Nov 10th.Per Personnel Policy M-F EEs received that day off. Contract for Deputies only addresses if not working on the 11th get regular holiday pay; those working the 11th received premium holiday rate. EEs working in School Resource Officer positions at school districts who had class on the 10th did not receive a day off, nor did they receive double-time holiday pay for those hours worked. ER pointed out contract specifically designates November 11th as the holiday, and that past practice is consistent.
Grievance Denied. ER handled payment of this holiday consistent with the collective bargaining agreement and the same as it had in 2017, the last time November 11th fell on a Saturday.
