Governor Tim Walz appointed Judge Bowman to the Minnesota Tax Court on January 13, 2020. Judge Bowman was reappointed on December 16, 2022 for a six-year term.
Judge Bowman earned a B.A. from Macalester College, St. Paul, Minnesota, in 2002 (Religious Studies), and a J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota, in 2008.
During her career as a lawyer, Judge Bowman specialized in civil practice, both in district courts and the Minnesota Tax Court.
While attending law school part-time, Judge Bowman worked full-time for the Minnesota State Senate from 2002-2007. During that time, Judge Bowman served as a Legislative Assistant.
After graduating from law school, Judge Bowman worked at the Housing Preservation Project (currently the Housing Justice Center) on the Foreclosure Relief Law Project. In this role, she developed innovative legal strategies to challenge the foreclosure crisis and keep homeowners in their homes.
In 2012, Judge Bowman joined the Office of the Hennepin County Attorney in the Civil Division. There, she represented assessors in defense of property values in Tax Court and the Hennepin County Public Works Department in eminent domain proceedings.
