Governor Tim Walz appointed Beverly Luther Quast to the Minnesota Tax Court on February 26, 2025.
Judge Luther Quast earned a B.A. from Wellesley College, Wellesley, Massachusetts in 2003 (Economics and Jewish Studies), a J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2008 (magna cum laude), and an LL.M. in taxation from New York University School of Law in 2016.
During her seventeen years of legal practice in Minnesota, Judge Luther Quast specialized exclusively in tax law.
After graduating law school in 2008, Judge Luther Quast worked for the public accounting firm Deloitte Tax, LLP as a tax consultant focused on international taxation. In 2011, Judge Luther Quast joined Ameriprise Financial as Tax Counsel. In this role she advised the company on the U.S. tax implications of foreign operations.
Beginning in 2018, Judge Luther Quast joined 3M Company as Senior Tax Counsel where she advised on federal, state, and international tax matters related to supply chain, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, corporate reorganizations, and compliance.
Prior to her appointment, Judge Luther Quast was a Vice President of tax planning at U.S. Bank, where she advised on tax aspects of business transactions and mergers and acquisitions.
Judge Luther Quast previously taught corporate taxation at the University of Minnesota Law School as an adjunct law professor.
She has been a presenter at various Continuing Legal Education programs.

Judge Luther Quast is a volunteer with her synagogue and college alumnae association.
She enjoys sailing, downhill skiing, biking, and golfing. Her nerdiest personal interests include building financial models and family ancestry research.
