Twenty years ago, Bob’s life was profoundly changed by a spinal cord injury during a tsunami. This experience has deeply informed and enhanced his professional skills and personal mission, driving his passion to help disabled individuals secure employment and see their disability as gift.
Bob is a licensed psychologist and consultant with 50 years of experience in human services. His advocacy is fueled by a sense of social justice and a personal understanding of the challenges and triumphs of returning to work after a life-altering injury.
Currently, Bob is a consultant for the Minnesota Transformation Initiative, a Department of Human Services funded program housed at the Institute for Community Integration at the University of Minnesota. His work is focused on increasing employment outcomes for people with disabilities.
Bob is active in public advocacy. He is a board member of GUSU (Get Up Stand Up), an organization dedicated to funding spinal cord injury research. He has also served on the Minnesota Consortium of Citizens with Disabilities board and its policy committee, and is an active member of the Arc policy committee.
Bob holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theology and a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from the University of St. Thomas. He is a passionate father of two adult sons and a grandparent to three. In his spare time he enjoys many sports and reading.
