Corey Boyd

Governor Walz recently appointed Corey Boyd as Chief Equity Officer in the Office of Equity, Accessibility and Belonging (formally known as Equity, Accessibility and Opportunity). Corey comes to this role after over a decade of leading youth programs on the ground, implementing engagement strategies, and managing programs and services throughout various positions in nonprofit and government sectors. This includes his previous role in the Public Engagement team in the Governor’s Office since 2023, where he has been instrumental in shaping engagement work between the government and community. systems-change. He is a faith-rooted, dual-mastered strategic leader serving as Chief Equity Officer in the Office of the Governor of Minnesota — a bridge between state government and the historically marginalized communities it has under-served, and an execution disciplinarian who refuses to let equity work stay at the level of statement. He pairs transformational and servant leadership with the Balanced Scorecard, the 4 Disciplines of Execution, and an evidence-based practice of changing the conversation before changing the culture. 

He is a proud active member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. He is a devoted husband, and loving father of three beautiful humans. He does not arrive at the table with slogans. 

He arrives with a plan, with data, with the relationships required to move both — and with the operating conviction, spoken to constituents throughout the campaign, that "I don't make promises; I'm here to work."
